The Manchester Branch, founded in 1951, is the largest branch in the UK outside London and we enjoy a varied programme of events that make the most of our city as well as the surrounding countryside. Our events balance friendship and fun with appreciation and learning. We regularly host:
Formal dinners
Informal lunches
Tastings
Food & wine pairings
Interesting visits of discovery
Demonstrations
Let our dedicated committee include you too; there are usually 10 events a year ranging from Michelin aspiring restaurants to catering colleges and guided walks and visits further afield. You will meet interesting, knowledgeable and like-minded folk and be given a very warm welcome.

A Journey Through the Rhone Valley
Wed 17 Jun 2026
Join us for a tasting of Rhone valley wines, the second largest AOP region in France.
We’ll be comparing and contrasting wines of different styles and quality levels from across the region. Following a glass of sparkling wine we’ll begin with a pair of white wines, one from the Northern Rhone and one from Southern Rhone. We’ll then move on to three reds from the Northern Rhone followed by three reds from the Southern Rhone. We’ll finish with a vin doux naturel, a muscat de Beaumes de Venise.

Lunch at Café Murano
Thu 4 Jun 2026
Cafe Murano Pastificio is located on Tavistock Street in Covent Garden. It is part of the restaurant group founded by celebrity chef Angela Hartnett, and is a more relaxed counterpart to her Michelin-starred Murano in Mayfair. The restaurants focus on simple, seasonal Italian cooking, with an emphasis on fresh pasta and regional dishes. Cafe Murano also operates in several other London locations, including St James’s, Marylebone and Bermondsey.
