Cellar Series : Barolo and Barbaresco

IWFS Capital Branch’s Cellar Series takes us next to Barolo and Barbaresco, in Piedmonte Italy. Seriously, is there a more captivating region on Earth for ethereal, age-worthy wine? The hilly, temperately continental terroir allows the noble Nebbiolo grape to reach an optimal ripeness that cannot be achieved anywhere else. The result is a red wine – Barolo - that has been called ‘the King of Wines and the Wine of Kings’, given its tight history with the first king of unified Italy – Victor Emmanuel II. And if Barolo is King, Barbaresco is Queen – equal in majesty but with softer nuances. No wine cellar is complete without a selection of Bar-Bar!
